In order to continue improving hand hygiene practice worldwide, the WHO aims at prioritizing following into the future:
• Continue updating recommendations on efficient hand hygiene practice based on research, studies, and feedback from healthcare facility and nations worldwide.
• Increase the number of healthcare settings registered with the Save Lives, Clean Your Hands campaign program, in particular in areas where their current number is particularly low such as Africa, Eastern Europe, and Japan.
• Generalizing the use of the WHO Hand Hygiene Self Assessment Framework throughout the whole network of healthcare facilities registered in the Save Hands, Clean Your Hands campaign program.
